Handre Pollard scored 19 points as South Africa defeated Scotland 34-16.South Africa scored three tries, from Schalk Burger, JP Pietersen and Bryan Habana, to go top of Pool B at St James’ Park on Saturday but they were pushed all the way after Scotland launched a second-half fightback.Vern Cotton’s error-strewn Scotland team seemed out of the game when they went in 20-3 down at half-time but a penalty from Greig Laidlaw and a try against the run of play from wing Tommy Seymour, after a break by Duncan Weir, breathed new life into the Scots. Laidlaw’s conversion made it 20-13. It had seemed that South Africa were cruising at half-time. Heyneke Meyer’s rampaging team – showing three changes from the 46-6 victory over Samoa – saw a try from Burger and supreme kicking from Handre Pollard put them in control. But with 20 minutes left of the second half Scotland began to play as they did in their previous two victories over USA and Samoa.Weir assumed the kicking duties with Laidlaw off for a yellow card to kick Scotland back into it at 23-16 but Pollard restored the Springboks’ lead to 10 points. In a tense finale, South Africa wrapped it up with a try from Bryan Habana (pictured) in the 74th minute. It was his 61st test try.Follow World Rugby on social media:Official Website! to our YouTube Channel For More Great Videos us on Twitter: us on Facebook: and us on Instagram:

  1. (LOLOL that little girls smile heehee)
Will be, in no certian order, NZ, AUS, SA or France. Place ya bets boys. But Ill tell you.. here Scotland made the best try by far.

  2. Bismarck and Jannie need to go, they cost us all the time, fouls… etc. There will be those guys who absolutely love Bismarck, for some reason I don't know… He was good a few years back, but right now looks so smug and it shows. He is non existent on the field, he is no longer an impact type of player. He acts like he is God's gift to the boks and is so chummy with Heyneke. I personally have seen both brothers at a bar with Heyneke having drinks and stroking each others egos… Like they would ever get dropped… Good attitude is everything, it is contagious and can spread among players, it is the gap needed to turn oneself from a good player into a great player. Clearly Japan is evident in showing that, so don't tell me that we need Bismarck. Having him on the field is like taking one step forward and two steps back. Bismarck's attitude stinks and he has gone backwards, I have heard he is some what narcissistic. Jannie on the other hand, is a top bloke, just think he cannot tackle and unfortunately his shoulder is absolutely buggered and depending on how that shoulder feels on the day, impacts on how he scrums.
